Happy World Bee Day!
Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels’ Bee Sustainable initiative proves that sustainability and hospitality go hand in hand.
In keeping with our commitment to the environment and our Group’s ‘52 Commitments to our Planet’, the Bee Sustainable project saw the introduction of beehives to specially identified areas in each of the gardens of our 8 resorts. The aim is to contribute to the conservation of bees and the environment at large. A cherished by-product is naturally the delicious honey our Beachcomber bees produce – often there is enough harvested for guests to enjoy on the breakfast buffet!
Why Bee Sustainable?
Bees are critical to our ecosystem but due to industrial-scale agriculture and global warming, their numbers are now in rapid decline. The Bee Sustainable project aims to contribute to their preservation by providing a habitat for bees, and by spreading awareness of their importance for a viable ecosystem.
The project is part of our Beachcomber Sustainable Engagement Policy and was implemented by local beekeeping enthusiast, Etienne de Senneville, of Bee Works Ltd. First launched in the gardens of the Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury and gradually implemented across all hotels of the Group, our beehives are a testament to Beachcomber’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a beautiful world is available for our children and grandchildren to inherit in years to come.
