Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels is offering a taste of its welcome cocktail for the 2023-24 season. This year the hotel collection’s signature beverage was designed by the Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa team, consisting of Rakesh Gurboo, Soonil Haton and Melany Nancy, who won the Beautiful Signature Cocktail Competition 2023. This in-house challenge held on 6 September 2023 at Institut Escoffier brought together Artisans from all the Group’s hotels in Mauritius.

The taste experience at Beachcomber begins with the welcome cocktail, which is offered to every guest on arrival. And, as is tradition, this signature drink is revisited every year, after a contest in which Artisans can compete as duets or trios. An eagerly anticipated event, this competition to select the hotel team that will create Beachcomber’s iconic cocktail is a moment of intense creativity. Contestants have one hour to come up with a cocktail that reflects the holiday experience delivered by Beachcomber resorts.

For this year’s edition, the refreshing composition with a taste of summer designed by the Victoria Beachcomber trio won the jury over, which included the Group CEO, Stéphane Poupinel de Valencé, the Chief Brand & Communication Officer, Karine Perrier Curé, the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, Géraldine Koenig, the Chief People Officer & Group Legal Counsel, Sebastian La Hausse de Lalouvière and Tiina Fabre from Institut Escoffier.

Made from pineapple, cane syrup and cardamom, their cocktail was unanimously acclaimed for its ease of preparation, unique aroma and fresh taste. “The welcome cocktail is much more than just a drink, it is a creation that delivers an authentic taste experience to guests. Over the past few weeks, we have carried out several trials, worked on different combinations and organised a number of tasting sessions before coming up with THE recipe,” says Victoria Beachcomber’s winning team. “It is an immense joy and a great source of pride to create the cocktail that will be served in all Beachcomber hotels!”

The Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury team, including Kenny Perticots, Vimal Sookree and Suraj Gonowree, took second place while the Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa team, comprising Vishaan Dhondee, Yoan Hack and Curley Anson, ranked third. The Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa duet, Jeannot Savricouty and Rajinee Mootoocarpen, also earned a special mention from the jury. 

Beachcomber hotels’ new Beautiful Cocktail will be served to guests from 1 October 2023.
