Take a dive into the heart of the Indian Ocean with Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels

Posted in News on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 by The Beachcomber Correspondance Desk

The Group’s diving schools are world-renowned for their expert instructors, high-quality equipment and maximum safety conditions. They all conduct introductory dives in swimming pools and the lagoon as well as night dives. Special equipment is also available for children from 10 years old.

With 8 properties from North to South, the Group’s diving packages can be tailored to meet every requirement.

Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa’s Academy has received the Green Star award from PADI in recognition for its dedication to environmental protection. It was a World Travel Awards nominee in 2016 and 2017 in the category Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Resort. Located only 5 metres from the lagoon in the north-west of the island, it offers exclusive shipwreck diving. Victoria Beachcomber’s diving school specialises in introductory diving for children from 10 years old and offers custom dives for families who want to experience the underwater world for the first time.

Mauricia Beachcomber Resort & Spa in the heart of Grand Baie has the Group’s oldest diving school. It is within close proximity to all diving spots in the north of the island. The region offers year-round diving from 13 metres deep with a profusion of colourful stony corals, abundant underwater life and shipwrecks. This ideal underwater photography location has become one of the school’s specific features.

Close to the nicest diving spots and sheltered from trade winds, Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa’s diving school is the perfect place for first dives. Guests can dive in a highly secure environment in the lagoon, near the coral reef.

Looking out over the Blue Bay Marine Park in the south-east of the island, Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa’s diving school provides sensational diving for all levels. Divers can explore the Colorado and Roche Zozo spots with a wealth of sea fans, corals, parrotfish, surgeonfish and large predators like wahoo, tuna, or barracuda.

Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa and Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa share a diving school located in Zone C in the south-west of the island. It provides some of the most famous dives in Mauritius at depths of 9-35 metres. The exploration of the Passe Saint Jacques spot is one of the island’s finest dives: guests can sight eagle rays, sharks, schools of jacks, tuna and even giant lobsters with a bit of luck. An unforgettable diving experience!

Responsible underwater behaviour

Beachcomber hotels care for the environment and try to cause the least possible impact on the sites during dive trips. Their boats refrain from dropping anchor to avoid damaging corals. The number of dives at each site is also limited to minimise disturbance to the fauna and allow everyone to fully enjoy the wonders of the ocean.
